Ever wonder about the water that goes on and in your body day after day? Well here is one way easy way to find out what is in your water. Get on your computer and go to the water department of the municipality that provides your water. The EPA requires your water provider to issue a water quality report every year. View this and you will see a myriad of contaminants, mostly byproducts of the chlorination process that is supposed to keep our water safe to drink. Well, yes maybe it kills some of the bacteria and microbes before they get you but just take a look at what is left over in your water after this process! So many ppbs of this are safe or so many ppms of this is safe? Really!, Add all of these different carcinogens together and you got yourself a lot of ppms of cancer causing carcinogens. Other than heredity, most experts agree that cancer is caused by bad water we drink, cook, and bathe in(absorbed through our skin) bad things we eat, or bad environmental factors around us. So why not take charge of your water and your life. We have the right water conditioning equipment at the right price to greatly reduce the cancer causing carcinogens in your water. Call us for a friendly and free no charge estimate!

Those of us that have well water have a special challenge. How in the heck do I make sure it's safe, doesn't stain things, and tastes good. Well here is what you need to know. There are four different areas of well water conditioning that need addressed:
(1)First you have to make sure that it's safe to drink by removing microbes such as virus, bacteria, fungi, protozoa, cysts and molds. Purify it using an Ultra Violet system or sanitize it with one of our hydrogen peroxide systems.
(2)Secondly you must removing the staining minerals of iron, manganese, and sulfur. Use our new proprietary hydrogen peroxide system or the new Katalox conditioner which also has the benefit of filtering down to 2 microns.
(3)Thirdly, condition your water for hardness. You don't want a crust of calcium and magnesium building up and ruining your water heater. You can use one of our new digital metered salt saving water softeners or our new salt and maintenance free water conditioner.
(4)Last of all, you will want to remove any chemicals in the water. Use our replaceable whole home cartridge filter or our new maintenance free Centaur Catalytic Carbon system.
Do this and your water will be clear, healthy, and taste so good. I guarantee it!

Whoa! All of a sudden it's below freezing outside! What happened to the beautiful leaves on the trees and the warm fall weather? Time to winterize the outside faucets against freezing. Remove the hose from your outside faucets. If they are the newer frost proof faucets that's all you have to do. If you have older outside sill cocks, they require more attention. Close the shut off inside your home. Open the faucet outside and let it drain. If the inside shut off valve is a stop and waste type, open the waste port on the side of the stop and let it drain. Of course if you want to update that old style sill cock to the maintenance free sill cock you can always call us for a free estimate. Now you are ready for a worry free winter!

Reverse osmosis systems are great for taking out 98% of everything in your water but there are a number things you should know first before you trust the salesman at the neighborhood Big Box Store! First of all, you are going to hear new water being made and old water going down the drain so if your bedroom is closeby or dripping and gurgling noise bothers you it's best to choose another way to treat your water. Know that these 'bargain' systems waste about 8 parts per every 1 part of good water they make and are only three or four stage filtration units. They remove all the minerals from the water, making it taste flat and giving it an acidic PH for those of you with health concerns. Also, don't forget the maintenance factor. These filters and membrane must be changed yearly.. Here is my recommendation. Call us to professionally install our high efficiency model. You will make more water with mujch less waste down the drain. Ours also reintroduces those healthy minerals back into the water, giving it a great taste. Plus, we bring the PH into the alkaline area, which research shows is much better for your health. A fifth stage ensures the cleanest, crispest , clearest water. Call us. We want to make your first cup of coffee or favorite bevarage a memorable experience!

What happens to a nuclear energy plant without electricity? Hurricane Sandy has ravaged the East coast where there are several nuclear facilities. The radioactive core is cooled by pumps driven by outside electricity. If the power goes out there is no electricity to pump water and cool the core or power sump pumps to stop the rising water. So you are thinking that this has all been thought out right? Well kind of. There are diesel generators to supply backup power but not that many. Some are torn down in rebuild mode and some just aren't working. The Nuclear Regulatory Commission does not require sufficient backup generators be in service. Why? Yes, you guessed it. It's all about the money. that it would cost the nuclear facility.. Case in point is Japan. This exact situation caused a nuclear disaster because the electricity went down, there were not sufficient generators to cool the radioactive material, and no sump pumps to stop the flooding Well, let's hope it doesn't happen here and in the near future the NRC will mandate suffient diesel backup generators to avert a meltdown. So before the power goes out call us to install a battery back up sump pump and avert a 'meltdown' in your basement!

Remember back in the day when plumbers charged you time and material for exactly how long they were there and what they used for your repair? That was kind of nice until the boss got a call that the plumber was taking too long on the job, too long on his smoke break, and too long talking on the cell phone to his significant other. Sooooo......companies went to up front pricing. No matter how long it takes this is the price you pay. That's even better, right? Well, yes and no. Big companies with a lot of overhead need big money to pay big salaries. Now that plumber becomes a professionally trained saleseman to pressure you for up to $200 dollars per hour labor plus material. All are masked in their up front pricing. Here at Alpha Water Solutions we do give you that piece of mind with up front pricing . However, our labor rates are less than half that of the Big Companies. So call us. We will not charge you too much. No service charge, no pressure, and no obligation. I guarantee it!

Boy is this a hot topic! Concerned citizens want to stop the importation and injection of contaminants back into the earth. The governor says do it to create untold wealth in jobs and revenues. The positive that I see in all of this is a much greater public awareness of what is in the water that we all drink, shower, and cook with. Unfortunately today, all water is contaminated. It is just a matter of degree and with what. There are over 80,000 known contaminants and growing at about 1000/year. Your water supplier is only required to test for 90 and let you know their concentration. Go to your water supplier website or the Environmental Working Group to view these. Personally, I don't want any of them in my water. They are all known cancer causing carcinogens. So, what to do? Make your own water. Call me for a free water check and consultation for a solution that will significantly reduce these toxins. Best of health and remember this. The one you love is 70% water!

Do you know that many plumbers are not certified and licensed? Yes, it's absolutely true! The Ohio Plumbing Code only requires an employee to work 'under the supervision of a licensed plumber.' In order to save money and keep a plumber from 'going out on his own, the owner or an officer of a company generally has the plumbing license. I can confidently tell you that they are not going to waste their time to be in your home supervising your 'plumber'! Licensed plumbers are required to pass a lenghty plumbing examination. They are required to take continuing education hours every year. Product and professional certifications are continuously updated.. The State of Ohio requires fingerprintiing and a full background check to make sure that you do not have a felon in your home around your loved ones and valuable possessions. Licensed plumbers are required to have $500,000 in liability insurance. Why do they spend all this time and money? They do the job right the first time. They keep you, your home and loved ones safe. Is your plumber licensed? If not, call us. It's worth it!

Do you know that there are 84,000 known water contaminants? Unfortunately, water suppliers are required to test for only 90 of these carcinocens. It would take five scientists working full time four years at an astronomical price to determine which of these are in your water! Fortunately new cutting edge water conditioning equipment has been developed to significantly reduce the taste, odor, staining, and health hazard problems that these things produce. You drink it,bathe in it, and inhale it so reat your water and the one you love well. Call us for a free water check and consultation. As always, no pressure and no obligation! Darryl.

This one definitely makes the top ten plumbing emergencies of all time! For those of you who have homes supplied by natural gas here is how it usually goes. You smell an odor of natural gas when you are in the basement or around your gas appliances. Who do you call? The gas company right? But all of a sudden on this late, dark, 20 degree, snowy night you get the feeling they are not your friends. They find the gas leaks but lock off your gas meter. No heat,no hot water, can't cook, and home sweet home could have been a crater in the ground. Believe me when I tell you, they did the right thing. We are all glad you are safe! But not like this. Take charge of your plumbing this winter and call for a no charge and no obligation gas leak check on your own time. Stay safe, stay warm and check in again for more peace of mind plumbing tips! Darryl.
